A first-ever, Wal-Mart retailtainment event sponsored by nine of Shrek’s licensees. DreamWorks, Hasbro, Dial, Scholastic, Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Hewlett Packard, Activision and General Mills all participated in this one-day event at Wal-Mart stores, nationwide. 3,000 posters decorated storefronts one week prior to the event alerting consumers to the Swamp Hunt; customers were invited to “hunt” throughout the store for discounts and giveaways for each of the promotional partners. On May 22nd, 3,000 Shrek and Donkey standees greeted the children visiting Wal-Mart stores. More than one million activity booklets were handed out, one million hats sat on kids’ heads and 75,000 buttons were proudly worn on Wal-Mart’s employees’ blue vests.
